A disciplinary procedure is used where an employee is believed to have fallen short of the standards expected. A grievance procedure is used where an employee wishes to raise a formal concern about a workplace issue. Workplaces are legally obliged to ensure that these procedures are handled fairly and consistently. For this reason, employer’s procedures must support both the employer’s and employee's perspective.
